If I were Justin, I would borrow a somewhat less sophisticated battery
charger and try that, before spending the money on a new battery.
I wonder if just bump-starting the bike and riding it around would work?
If the battery's totally flat it's going to be pretty tough to bump start
it. The bike's alternator will generate some current, but the battery
will look almost like a short circuit, keeping the voltage too low to
reliably run the ignition amplifier. I've brought my SV's totally flat
battery back to life by jumping the bike with a car battery and letting
the bike's generator charge the battery but this is NOT a good idea.
I like David's idea of slowly charging the battery by hooking it up to a
car battery with a light bulb between them. An old headlight bulb would
be a good one to pick, a turn signal bulb will work but it will take a
good while to get enough charge into the dead battery for his charger
to take over.
