Perhaps I would have been clearer had I said Classic has no evidence
that magnetic field emissions in a hybrid are a health concern unless
an investigation has been made, and I'd be surprised to discover one
has been made.
Agreed, 100%. He has precisely zero evidence.
I don't. I don't need any. I have seen the medical reports. My
mother was killed by EMR. I've very familiar with the dangers of
frying people.
At APG, when I was doing research, there was a bit of discussion of
ONE soldier who stood in front of a communcations dish for too long.
He died a few days later.
What's at issue isn't whether people can die from EMF, but how much
emf is dangerous. When several agencies investiagating the safe emf
levels for home exposure of children, and with the EPA declaring emf a
carcinogen, it's clear that a reasonably intelligent person would be
concerned.
In general, I believe the "scientific community's" opinion - at least
among the scientists whose opinions are actually relevant
The most prominent of the scientists who has done research recognizes
an elevated incidence of leukemia in children due to EMF.
- is that
no link has been demonstrated between magnetic fields and cancer.
That is patently false. This isn't even new. It's been known for
decades.
A good scientist, at least IMHO, will never tell you something is
either "impossible" or "proven" - science is a matter of probabilities
and best-we-currently-have models and theories.
Science is often a matter of analyzing statistics. The methodology of
how an analyis is done is critical to the validity of the results.
There are constant revelations that drug industry trials on tens of
thousands of people fail to reveal the dangers of drugs that were
approved by the FDA and are now being withdrawn.
Too often it's after a body count is becoming noticeable that changes
take place. It's also known that the changes that need to be made to
shield the occupants in electric hybrid vehicles from emf to ENSURE
that there is no risk
But in the absence
of a demonstrated link and/or proposed mechanism for the supposed
effect, no one seems to be getting too excited about it.
True. This culture takes action only on the dead bodies of the
affected when there is a severe problem. A few dead children don't
matter.
Frankly, while I haven't myself measured the fields inside a Prius or
other hybrid, I would be very surprised if they were significantly
greater than those seen in conventional vehicles.
I would be surprised if they were not. There are several agencies who
have tested the levels and found they very highly elevated. The
insight was quoted as being what 100 times the permissable level. The
Civic and Prius have only 1 seat affect, but it's well past the levels
set by the government as known to be safe.
The EPA while having named EMF a known carcinogen is required by law
to have determined safe exposure limits before taking more stern
labeling or corrective action. This may take years.
Simply "being
electric" does not automagically make for intense fields.
No it doesn't. Since 110 volt service is noted to have raised the
incidence of leukemia in children is dozens of surveys that were NOT
paid for by the power industry there is some concern.
I would
actually expect that the fields experienced by the Prius driver, which
originate from the vehicle itself, are of considerably lower intensity
than other sources that the average person would be exposed to
just about every day.
On the contrary. No other automobile has 280 volt electric lines
running through the passenger compartment inside a metal box. Other
than hybrids the voltages in cars that carry significant current are
outside the box.
It also seems odd that CR has not once brought up the question
of whether the fields in this case were "DC" or "AC", or in the
latter case the frequencies involved.
I'm not doing the research, merely reporting on the finding of others
that cast doubt on the safety of not just electric hybrids but of
motorcycles as well.
Since male impotency in this society is rising rapidly there are many
agencies looking for reasons for this. Some are pointing at EMF as a
contributing factor. If only motorcyclists were affected, this
wouldn't be a bad thing at all.
You'd think that might be
of some concern (after all, how would you correctly design your
tinfoil hat if you don't know the frequencies you're trying to
block? :-)).
Sorry, it's clear that your profound ignorance and demonstrated lack
of intelligence prevents you from having a coherent discussion or even
understanding the issues being discussed.
