When I visited Hong Kong, I saw the "street sleepers" on the sidewalks
in front of skyscrapers. They were a lot cleaner than the homeless
people you see in an American city, their cardboard boxes were brand
new.
I watched a heated altercation between a woman and the Beijing police.
She wanted to sleep on somebody's doorstep. She told the police that
she had come from the country and that she had a little money, but she
wanted to spend it on sightseeing instead of lodging.
At that time, it cost about ten cents to tour the Forbidden City...
