I did that with my first motorcycle and I almost died the first time I
let the clutch out and got confused as to which way the throttle grip
needed to
be turned to slow down.
I didn't know anything about the transition from direct steer (turn
the bars right to go right) to counter-steering (turn the bars right
to go left) which occurs at above 5 to 7 mph, either.
I jumped off the motorcycle when I thought it was going to hit a
parked car on the opposite side of the highway, and I wound up in the
ditch behind my motorcycle...
