Look at the past 5000 years, see what man has done to the planet over
that time, and tell me how we can possibly survive another 5000 years.
There's only one scenario where I can see that happening. A massive
die off. Wipe out 95%+ of all humans on the planet and let it
recuperate. That probably means some new adaptations genetically.

A *lot* of new species will appear, if we give them a chance. At current
rates, we're heading for a die-off as big as the one at the KT boundary.
