For me, I never ride without my gear so a quick run to the store is usually by

Exactly my point.

I have a half helmet and pull on boots and an armored mesh jacket for
such occasions. I don't have fingerless gloves, but I don't mind
taking off my summer gloves when I go into a store.

The fact you'll sometimes go without the gloves is an argument to have
some fingerless ones to resort to (wearing something still being
better than nothing).

All joking aside, I think Don does make some very valid points. The
ATGATT argument runs right into the wall of convenience and comfort at
times, and I am sybaritic (sp?) enough to weigh in on the side of
convenience and comfort when it suits me.

Yeah, that's what I was getting at with Ben's admission the hassle
required results in just leaving the bike at home and taking the car
sometimes.

Sometimes the ideals of perfection are the enemy of the good.

And riding is good.

And the more you ride (including all those little errands you might
otherwise have used the car for), the better a rider you become.

And the better rider you become, the safer a rider you become, so...
