No one is going to laugh at you here.
The "biking lark" attitude may be a concern however.

Please don't take the mick!
I'm a newbie to this biking lark, despite wanting one since i was a
kid. I'm a former twist and go girl, so the progression from a Daelim
Cordi 50 scooter to a Honda CBF 500 is a pretty big jump.
I've had the bike for 5 months now, its just gone in to have its first
MOT and the guy commented on my "rusty chain".
I need help! What am I doing wrong?
I admit i'm not obsessive over cleaning the beast but its at least once
a fortnight, and I clean and lube the chain at the same time using
Muc-off products.
I only do commuting on the bike, prob 35 miles a week, so why is my
chain getting so messed up? Admittedly, when I took off the wax the
garage provided me with, it didn't look great, but its still getting a
rustier!
I'm not confident enough to ride when its icy but I do use it in the
rain, and unfortunately the bike's stored outside with just a
waterproof cover.
I would ask my mates but they're quite keen to laugh at a girl who just
needs a bit of advice without the wee taking!!!
Any bits of advice would be great!
