I ordered a back seat rest with a little cargo carrier shelf for myYou could carry a bag with socks, underwear, and toiletries. My guess is
VT600.
It is all solid steel, but the little shelf says that the load limit is
3 kilograms (6.6 lbs).
What is that all about?
I couldn't even carry my cat with that weight limit.
What does one carry on those little square tube little shelves?
Seems pretty worthless if there is a rational reason for such a low
limit.
that how much you can overload it depends on bike vibration and road
conditions.
My sister's V-Star 650 has a rack that is probably similar to what you're
talking about. It is just a cantilever (if that's right) with no bracing
underneath. With the vibration of the V-twin, a weld broke on one side
after awhile. In fact it broke in the same place where it's previous
owner had appararently repaired a broken weld.
The rack on my Nighthawk was rated for either 12 or 15 lbs. It had some
bracing underneath for strength.
The rack on the back of my Concours is also only rated for 12 or 15
pounds, It also lacks underbracing, but the two metal arms that support
the rack are under the body so are quite a bit thicker than chrome racks
that are exposed.
