If you lived in Southern California, you would understand why riding
a sportbike in rainy weather just doesn't work well.
The canyons and mountains where a sportbike would be most at home
will have rock slides and mudslides and flooding, and the roads will
develop huge potholes.
For about a month after the rains stop, there will be gravel and
rocks all over the
back roads. Even the nearby Santa Monica mountains won't be a decent
place to ride until March. There will be water running out of the
hillsides, across the road.
The alternative is to get out and ride the freeways in the rain, and
enjoy the automated carwash effect, when thousands of cars mix
rainwater with the oil, automatic transmission fluid, antifreeze, etc
and that leaves a grey film all over a motorcycle.
Further north, in central California, a lot of mountain roads in the
Sierra foothills are closed due to snow.
Oh, what a crock. If the roads were that bad after every rain, you
might as well sell the bikes. I'm quite sure it rains more than once
a month out there. I call bullshit, but then again, it's you
posting, so it's a given.
We're in a 4 or 5 year drought. The rain we're getting now is the most in
years and it's still not enough to make a dent in the deficit.
Hell, there was a couple of inches of slush on the ground this evening when
I went to pickup my daughter from school. Looked like snow at first. A major
"wtf" moment around these parts. ;-)
