No, it's not. IT enhances the flow of traffic. It promotes common
courtesy and goodwill among drivers. It saves fuel, it reduces
tensions, it elimiates passive-agressive tendencies, and helps save
the environment. That's not stupid. Only someone who is truly
twisted would consider that to be stupid. Only someone truly stupid
themselves would think having two cars holding up dozens or hundreds
of others to be preferable.

If a California driver who is proceeding at the maximum
legal speed limit intentionally slows down to drop in behind the car
who just happens to be alongside him because that driver is going the
maximum speed limit too, the slowing driver can then be cited for
impeding the normal and resonable flow of traffic.

Only an idiot would claim that such a situation would result in an
officer actually citing a driver for intentionally improving the flow
of traffic.

Also, slowing down will cause your "dozens and dozens" of impatient
drivers behind him to reduce the interval between them, so they will
have to slow down too, with a ripple effect all the way back to tail
end charley in the pursuing wolf pack.

No, it would not. The slowing down would be momentary, while the
positive effect of allowing the blocked off drivers to continue down
the road would be long lasting. It's really hard for someone as dull
as you to comprehend reality, isn't it? That's most likely the result

It's illegal to change lanes in an intersection or within about fifty
feet of an intersection in California. A driver is supposed to have
his route planned in advance, without erratic lane changes.

because I'm not driving according to his imagined rules though.
