I've heard of it but don't know what the symptoms are or if
it can be treated, cured, etc.

Cured very easily with tetracycline or a variety of other
antibiotics. It's a common cause of wimmen's urinary tract
infections and may be something that's not even thought of as
an STD in a lot of places, but it can be transmitted to guys and it
can cause a similar infection. Also has the interesting habit of
making your eyes turn very red if you get the germs in your eyes.

Actooly ... I've been seeing the same two GP's in the same
practice for some time. They never/seldom lecture me about my
smoking/drinking/other habits, and make few judgments. They
did a complete physical, and did the STD tests "under the table"
because my health insurance wouldn't pay for them per se.

We have lots of laughs, and they have done several favors over the
years in terms of medication and treatment in order to keep me
motorcycling.

days from the time you are infected until you develop symptoms. You
can usually spread the virus to someone else beginning about 3 days
after you are infected until about 10 days after you develop
symptoms.

Can I get viral meningitis if I'm around someone who has it?

The viruses that cause viral meningitis are contagious.
Enteroviruses, for example, are very common during the summer and
early fall, and many people are exposed to them. However, most
infected persons either have no symptoms or develop only a cold or
rash with low- grade fever. Only a small proportion of infected
persons actually develop meningitis. Therefore, if you are around
someone who has viral meningitis, you have a moderate chance of
becoming infected, but a very small chance of developing meningitis.
