Yeah, I've been trying to pry some info out my Web-hosting service
about how Apache decides which files to serve as text and which to
execute as scripts. It definitely executes *.py files. Fine! As it
turns out, it also executes *.py.txt files. It thinks they're Python
scripts, too, because their names match the same pattern. Well, they
*are* Python scripts, but I want my readers to download these without
having to unwrap a zipped archive. We went 'round and 'round about
why I wouldn't want to execute scripts, whether Apache reads the
shebang, what role, if any, file permissions play, and what the
essential meaning of the #500 error is. I was the only one offering
any speculation, so I wound up feeling like I was talking to myself.
The answer is just to rename the files, but I guess that was too easy.

Interesting stuff on the H-D's Riders' Edge Instructor Training
course. I seem to recall taking the same course, different subject
matter and location, but most of the same buzzwords.
