Don't buy Garmin. They were the best game in town and now they're turning

If you find a good deal on an older model used Garmin, snatch it up. Some
of their older stuff was really top notch. Like the GPS V, for instance.
And yet I know several people who use the later model Garmin units and
are experiencing no problems with them at all. Do you have anything to
support your statement or is it just your opinion?
Personal experience with the I series. They advertise compatibility with
almost all Bill Gates stuff, but I found they would only load using XP. I
also didn't like being forced to jump through hoops just to load the
maps. Customer Support gave me nothing but a hard time.
I really disliked being forced to use XP, their map software, and Garmin's
attitude toward me as a customer. I finally ended up returning the GPS.
So it is your opinion based on your experience with one model and one
unit. And it appears your complaints revolve more around software,
compatibility and customer service issues not the actual hardware as
implied in your original post.
Thanks for your opinion but I would be hard pressed to condemn their
entire new model line up based on it. YMMV
