Do what you want and enjoy the ride.

OK then. So you don't like giving out advice anymore? Or is it that
you think I just won't listen?

When trying to predict what someone will do in the future it's a
pretty safe bet to look at what they have done in the past.

Truth. Truth be told, riding to Moab will be a long one for me. The F4i
will be a toture chamber, but I am ready for the pain. So are you coming
via Yellowstone / Western WY or Salt Lake? Say western WY and then we'll
both be in new territory.

Right now I am just hoping I will have my bike fixed by then.

I posted in the other forum about the Venture's charging system
cratering in Radium a week and bit back. After installing the new
regulator/rectifier last Saturday there was no change to the available
electrical power so I began tearing things apart to swap out the
stator. That was a far bigger job than I expected but finally got the
old charred and blackened stator out Sunday morning. Shortly after
that I went to install the new one only to discover it is the wrong
one. It won't fit.

Crap!

So we are trying to get another one. Not the weak assed anemic one
from Yamaha but a heavy duty one from Electrex. The initial word is it
might take a month and a half. I am trying to firm up a delivery date
now. I should know in the next couple of days.

But a 1000 miles in one day? That is insane. Hell, I couldn't do that in
an Eldorado.

On my way back from LaCrosse I covered the 960 miles from Fargo to
Calgary in one day. I left Fargo at 7:30 and got home shortly before
1:00AM.

I was not in very good shape when I got home and probably should not
have been riding the last two hours.

For me a 500 mile day fits just nicely.
