In my state you can ride, but not with a passenger and not at night.
You can ride with friends as long as they're on other bikes.
Maybe it has something to do with age... you under 21? I don't get it.
No, it's been decades since I was 21, I'm afraid. In NY, getting a
motorcycle license goes like this (if you have a class D / car license)
Take written test, pass it, get learner's permit, class M. With learner's
permit, you may ride at any time you want, as long as you have someone
within 1/4 mile of you -at all times- who holds a valid NY motorcycle
license, and is 21 or older. I may not have those details exactly right, as
they didn't apply to me. The learner's permit only helps you if you have
someone in your family (or a really close friend who lives nearby) who owns
a motorcycle. Other than that, the learner's permit is WORTHLESS. The
learner's permit riding rule makes no sense even if you CAN find someone
licensed, to ride with you. They can't be on your bike, so they have to
follow you in another vehicle. If you are getting ready to screw up, what
is your escort gonna do about it, exactly? Be a witness for the crash
investigator?
yeah, those GZ250s suck.. feet way out in front, no balance.. they suck.
The Honda Rebel 250s on the other hand are perfect for that.
some people wave, some people don't, and less people do as the season
moves on..
What do have for riding gear? Helmet, gloves, jacket, pants, boots etc?
full-face helmet, armored (CE armor in back, shoulders, elbows) textile
jacket, off-road riding gloves (the only pair I could find that fit me
well), blue jeans, hiking boots. For raingear, I have waterproof pants
sized one-up to fit over my jeans. I also have a zip-in waterproof liner
for the armored jacket. The raingear rides in the trunk (one of the reasons
I chose the an400)
You should get some aftermarket pipes for that puppy and a big loud air
horn.
Aftermarket pipes and a big loud air horn? That would be like a wing on the
back of a civic, or one of those fart cans on the same. :)
Sounds like you are enjoying the open road, don't be surprised if
you aren't looking at bigger more powerful machines as your experience
grows.
I don't know. I haven't been able to open her up yet, but can already tell
that she'll do 85 or so quite easily. Plenty fast for me.
