And speaking of stupidity, could any sane person doubt that Bush was stunned
by the events of 911 after seeing him acting like a pole-axed steer for

Nor was it, alas, the sort of reaction you wanted to see from the man who's
at least theoretically in charge of the response.

What would you have hime do, jump up and start running around
the room screaming ?

There was not the tiniest little thing he, nor anyone else
could have done at that moment, other than wait and see what
developed. That was the time for the emergency responders to do what
they do, and they did. It was not the time for leaders and
politicians to start setting policy and taking large scale action in a
knee-jerk response 5 minutes after an event.
