Seriously though, getting peppered by birdshot is a pretty common
occurrence during bird season, especially in crowded fields or with
inexperienced hunters. It's happened to me before, although obviously
not as severely as with Cheney's lawyer buddy.

From about 40 yards, getting peppered with No.7 birdshot is about the
same level of pain as taking a hit from a paintball gun. It's really
more annoying than anything.
