You don't need two wires. You only need ONE wire. That's how I rigged
up a way to charge the inaccessible battery on my GS-1100.
But, I went to technical school so I know how automotive and airborne
electrical systems work. They use the frame of the vehicle for a ground
wire. That's why you only need the one positive wire and three ordinary
terminals that you can get inexpensively anywhere.
Nothing "clever" about the terminals at all. And, why would you want to
alter the wires coming out of your Battery Tender? What if something
went wrong with it and you needed to return it to the manufacturer for
warranty repairs? They'd deny your claim, saying that you'd tampered
with it by cutting off the alligator clips and installing a connector.
Would you feel "clever" when that happened?
Also, installing a "clever" connector on your Battery Tender's wiring
wiuld *dedicate* your BT to charging your motorcycle battery only. How
"clever" is that?
You need one male bullet connector and one insulated female bullet
connector and an ordinary round terminal with a 1/4 inch hole. You
attach the single 16 gauge wire to the battery positive terminal with
the round terminal. You run the single wire out to wherever you want
it, ty-wrap it to the frame and install the insulated female billet
connector on the end of the wire.
Then you can make up a very short 16 gauge wire with the male bullet
connector on one end and just strip the other end so you can attach the
positive alligator clip of the Battery Tender to it. You plug that
short wire into the longer wire when you want to charge the battery.
You hook the negative alligator clip to any bare metal bolt or nut on
the frame and turn the battery tender on.
