GPS

After being hopelessly lost in Palo Alto. I decided to buy a portable GPS
unit. One that I could use in my cars and on my bikes, with different
mounts.
I was looking at a Garmin 2620 and C330. Now I see on their website that
they have a new model, the 2720, which is voice activated.
What do I need a voice activated GPS for when I won't be able to hear it
nor, due to wind noise, will it be able to hear me?
I also looked at a TomTom today.
Any suggestions?
Thanks
