IIRC, the CBR600f2 has a hydraulic clutch.

I'm pretty sure it's cable. There's the cable and housing that ends up at
the lever and I've adjusted the slack so that there's a decent amount.

Ok, sorry about the mixup.

Almost for certain unless you've been doing lots of 1/4 mile runs
your clutch springs are fine. You also may find that changing oil
to a less slippery type will help as well.

Changing the oil is certainly going to help. If I recall the mileage
correctly (49k or so?), I'd go with new plates at the same time, just
because it's straight-forward, inexpensive, and puts the bike into a
known state.

*sigh* Yeah... it would be a good idea. When the summer semester rolls
around in 2 weeks and I have time...

I hear you, brother. I just turned in my (only) term paper this
semester. Now back to the dissertation...

True. I would be ordering a kit including springs/friction plates so if I
could just change out the springs it would save me a bit of money. I'm
really just trying to be aware of all my options.

It's mostly a question about how you like to work on your machines, I
guess. Kaybear/Krusty/FB and other folks might step in about wa$ting

I haven't seen Kaybear in a long time... is he/she still around?

All those names belong to the same individual.

The best thing for him to do is change it all. (springs, clutches, plates)
That way you have one tear down, and cover all bases.

This gets my vote. It's the bulletproof solution, and relatively
inexpensive as such things go.

Phil asked about gaskets: If you're only sorta concerned about the
gasket (or worried about a cost spiral), buy a roll of bulk gasket
paper/material. It's far cheaper than pre-cut gaskets and essentially
the same stuff (if you get good quality material). You can then try your
best to preserve the old gasket, and if it gets buggered up you then cut
a new one (plenty of material for mistakes too!). I've read about
cutting gaskets here in the past, so search the archives and you'll
probably get lots of good tips (like using a ball-pein hammer to cut the
holes for the bolts).

Comments about motor oils:
some automotive oils are certainly not suitable for use in wet clutches
(I am _quite_ certain that the CBR has a wet plate clutch! ;-). Your
Delvac should be just fine. For more on oils, you might start here
(article written by an ex fuels chemist)
http://www.yft.org/tex_vfr/tech/oil.htm

There's lots of other articles out there, and the ones that I believe to
be trustworthy all seem to say essentially the same things. fwiw, the
guys on the vfrlist never had problems with clutch slippage and
fleet/"diesel" oils.
