You've been to India? I spent 10 years there one month, although it was an
experience my oldest son still talks about. You do the Taj?Yeah, those
guys
*are* bikers! Most of those war surplus servicars were handed down from
the
older generation, (caste system at work)can you imagine? And all that
traffic and those damn(holy) cows too! Impressive, for the lack of a
better
word...
'78,'79 I spent about 9 months there. including riding an Enfield 200cc
two stroke from Madras (Chennai) to Manali, via Bangalore, Goa, Bombay,
Delhi, Simla, Manali, Delhi.
I was there for new years 1980, then back again in '88 for 4 mos. The first
time I had my son with me and was restricted that way, the second I was able
to get out without a bodygaurd and driver. I had a good time as they put us
up at the Intercontinental Hotel, but India is definitely an eyeopener! How
many cows did you almost hit? I came as close as you can without actually
hitting a couple, damn good thing(for me) they're mostly white!
I can't really imagine what it's like now with 50% more people. I didn't
really find the traffic then that crazy even in the middle of Delhi,
though some of it was borderline. More wealth and more people has probably
made it ridiculous now. But then that's true of every major city in the
world.
If you can imagine, Mexico City is even worse, it's in a valley and the
pollution just hangs...
