Got home from work today , and the house next door ... wasn't . City
finally got around to razing it , and I'm glad it's gone . It has
been empty for several years , and was a haven for whores (what kind
of sicko would go into that mess with even an attractive woman ?)
and crackheads and derelicts .
I was told that if I wanted to buy it , the city will sell for the
cost of removal . I could have a compound ... and a *real* shop !

You might wanna check into what kind of a deed ya get from 'em. Laws
vary, but it's not uncommon to have some language in there that allows
th' prior owner X amount of time to buy it back. It can be years.
And there's also potential problems getting title insurance. Kinda
sucks if ya develop it and th' prior owner comes waltzin' back within'
th' allocated time frame.

Hell, at least ya don't have that headache anymore, that's worth a
*lot*.

Hear , hear ! Buying it was just a passing fancy . Much as I want/need
more room , it'll have to wait until I can do it on the land in Arkansas .
The wife and I discussed this months ago when we found out it was scheduled
to be levelled , decided at that time we didn't want to spend money on more
property in Memphis .

Priorities are good, keeping focused on them is better, achieving them
is da best.

I ALMOST wish they had started to tear down the wrong
house ... it woulda got me outta here a lot cheaper than finishing paying
off the mortgage !

You'd still be onna hook for th' mortgage here... don't matter what
happens. Well, ya might be able to sue yer way outta that one, but
you'd still have to make th' payments 'til a judge ruled in yer favor.
Could be a lotta years worth these days.

Snarl... paid mine off th' old fashioned way

.
