Shirley, set a beverage up for everyone that wants one.
Well I finally got a Sat. off. Prolly the last one for a month or
two. Figured I'd head South on 41, but turned East when I came to
98/50 in Brooksville. I had gone that way to get to 75 but never
followed 98 so I went that way today. Man there were so many bikes
out. It was nice. Traffic was not bad and as I came to where 50
splits with 98 I got hung up in a group of bikes and couldn't turn
South. Oh well, another road I haven't taken so it was alright with
me. The group turned into a gas station about a mile later and I just
kept goin. Came to 575? And saw a sign saying canoe rentals so I
turned south on that one. It turned out to be a very nice lightly
traveled road with lots of farm land and horse farms. I went over the
Withlacoochee(sp) river, through Lacoochee and Trilacoochee. Someone
sure liked coochee! Guess I can't blame em. I putted along takin in
the views and sure enough it eventually brought me back to 98. Went
around Dade City and headed towards Lakeland. Still not much traffic
but lots of clouds building in the Southeast. When I got to Lakeland
I figured I'd call Kickstart and see if I could buy him a beer or
three. I guess I'm getting forgetful in my old age, I forgot to put
Dan's number in the new phone DOH.
Shirley could I get another and see if anyone else is thirsty.
After riding around in Lakeland for a while it was starting to rain so
I turned North and guess what. The clouds had closed up the sky there
too. I went through several gushers with almost enough time to dry
off in between. When I got to 50 outside Brooksville I stopped for
gas at the intersection where the western store is. I took that road
over to 41 and headed to Sleepy Hollow, North of Floral City. I hit
rain again just before gassing up and was pretty soggy when I got
there. I parked near a bike with some strange color patterns on it
and shuffled my wet ass up to the outdoor bar and ordered a High Life.
The old timer sitting there looked at me and with a straight face
said, "It still raisin?". I told him "It sure is ", and bought him
beer. I ordered the 5 buck steak and while it was cookin I listened
to a guy singing and playin a guitar, mostly country but it was OK.
Later when I was feedin scraps of the steak to the cat that adopted
the place as home I hear a screeching from the tree limb behind my
head. I turned around and here's this parrot screechin like he's
cussing me out. Someone said he wants your corn on the cob. I gave
it to him and he shut up ate the corn off it. Later he walked down
the limb, jumped to the ground and walked over to the bike with the
gaudy paint job grabbed the front tire with his beak and pulled his
way up to the fender. From there he hopped onto the handle bar. He
matched the paint job on that bike! He started makin a fuss and the
guy that owned him hollered, "Shut up Spike, I'm not ready to leave
yet!". I sat back and listened to the music, had a beer or three and
then took the short ride home.
Might do the same in the morning it the rain isn't too heavy.
Thanks for reading and have Shirley get ya another if you're so
inclined.
