What I'm wondering is if there's another spray on clear anti-corrosion
product I could use to compare the two.
Yes there is. It is called BOES.
Is it this stuff?
http://www.properautocare.com/boeshieldt9.html
That is it. A friend used it on his performance machine wheels (on his
Buell) whenever he took the bike to Daytona. They were bare polished
aluminum and would develop some corrosion after 3 days even if they were
heavily waxed. He would have to polish for at least a half hour on each
wheel when he got back to Tampa. An application of Boeshield before he
rode over cured the problem. I'd say spray and don't wipe for winter use
and spray and wipe off the excess if you want to use it the rest of the
year. I also have some friends that use it liberally on their boats that
live in salt water. It makes a real difference.
I'm sure there are other products that work just as well. However, this is
the only one I can personally "attest" to for whatever that is worth.
There's a place close by that carries it (According to their website),
unfortunately they're not open today. It's $17.50 for a spray can, but if
it works the way it should it'll be worth it. I'll see if I can pick some
up this week and do the other cover for comparison to the CRC stuff.
Other's have mentioned ACF-50, so my choices are ACF-50, Boeshield and Iron
Clad. Since I found a place that sells Boeshield that will likely be my
next choice for testing.
