The part there, about promoting the general welfare, I think health care
would be involved there, somewhere ... I mean, I would consider it
somewhat necessary for ones health to be good for them to be able to
enjoy generally good welfare.
Indeed, all those things mentioned there are meant to be supported by
the whole of American citizens & society--and does not support the
"every man for himself" mentality. I really don't believe the
forefathers would view the availability of health care to all AMERICAN
CITIZENS as being socialistic, but then, that is just my humble opinion.
But you are correct, it does seem that some need a bunch of starving,
sick around them to feel they are "more worthy" and "special."
Goverment run health care is socialism. It might work in countries
like Sweden with 8 million people it will be nothing but a boondoggle
in a country of 300 million. Same goes for Canada with about 33
million. California has a population of 36 million.
This is a great country but not for the weak hearted. Along with the
opportunity to succeed cames the opportunity to fail. If you don't
like that Sweden will gladly take you with cradle to grave socialism.
Just don't forget to pack your long underwear.
