Could the oil pump be misaligned?
Do you have a Fueling oil pump and a S&S (reed) breather in it?
If you do, they are NOT compatible and will give you the exact

Bingo! You were on the right track. Inside the engine is stock, but
there is an o-ring on the cam plate on the scavenge side of the oil
pump that was hard and misshapen from heat. I opened it up, found that
o-ring, replaced it, and problem is gone! 48c for the o-ring, a few
bucks for a new cam cover gasket, and we're back on the road.
BTW, an easy way to test for this problem is to ride the bike a few
miles, then immediately drain the engine sump. If you get more than 3
ounces, replace that o-ring.
