Speaking of cranckase breathing. Urgent question...

Shirley, set 'em up.

I blew yet another rocker cover gasket on the '93 evo. It cracked in
exactly the same place as last time.

I posted a while back about emulsion in my breather outlet hoses for
the front cylinder.

This time with the cover off (why I need an urgent response), I
noticed that the umbrella valve is toward the front of the front
cylinder (don't know about the rear cylinder, don't have that cover
off, but it's not giving me any trouble either).

I got to thinking about it and decided to do some searching. I see in
one of S&S's documents that the umbrella valves should be installed
toward the center of the engine. Looking at it, that makes sense,
given that the breather outlet is directly below.

Is this right?

Should my evo have the umbrella valves toward the center of the engine
front and rear just above the breather outlet banjo?

I'm thinking so, and that this is the reason I've got emulsion in that
front breather hose. Too much oil getting through, and not enough
getting out of the rocker at the low point, building pressure and
blowing the gasket.

(Damn, did the last guy to pull this apart put this thing together
backwards...? Now I'm wondering if the rear cylinder is also wrong.
Maybe the top rocker plates got swapped..)

Thoughts, experience, and advice appreciated.
