Speed limit + LEO slack usually works well for me. In general, that
will have you going a bit faster than the surrounding traffic (always
ahead once taking off from lights).

By riding a speed at which you're overtaking cars, you can focus more
of your attention on detecting dangers up ahead (instead of having to
divide your attention left, right and rear as well).
