I'll put that one away for future use. Oddly enough the Wrench at the
shop and I were talking about a set-up similiar to that one. Because
I didn't have the return spring, we were thinking that we could put a
bolt in the solenoid plunger, through the cover, a washer, a spring,
another washer, and voila. The plunger, theoretically should return.


You don't need anything nearly so complicated. My solenoid went
tits-up two years ago. I just drilled a hole in the cover, and when I
start the bike, I just push a thin screwdriver into the hole to push
the plunger a bit while I hit the starter button. It only needs that
little extra nudge.

If I'm riding in rain, I stick some gum in the hole.
