I know that the heads have changed, but have the exhaustflanges stayed
the same?, I'm lead to believe the pipe diffrences are due to the
location of the rear master cylinder, (If you moved it to the forward
controlls such as on big twins would 04+ pipes be adaptable to an
erlier evo sporter)Im not asking about braces and mounts just
specifically the flange angles and location, any help on this one
would be great...

04 stuff will only fit on 04 and later, 1989-03 generally are inter
changeable in parts. www.sportster.org

actually its 86-03, but that wasnt exactly what I was asking,... are
the dimensions (location) and the exaust flanges the same size, Im not
talking about a direct bolt on, I 'm aware of the frame/case redesign,
I just have an idea I think is worth trying...
HuffieVA
I might be all smoked up, but I think I read somewhere
that all the EVO Sporties, EVO Big Twins, and TC's had
the same dimensions as far as port location and orientation.
At least part of this is supported by bagger exhaust applications
that fit TC and EVO with the same pipes. Like you said, the
frame configurations would make the fit complicated. The
reason I remember the above statement is my Buell project.
I was thinking of somehow maybe using the head pipe
from my bagger as a start for a custom exhaust.
