Hey, hayadoin, grab a snifter and wave to Shirley, she'll hook you up.here,

I just heard that Pennsy offers free rider safety courses. Gratis.
pamsp.com. Anybody had any experience with these people? Good stuff
or is it pablum? And, hypothetically speaking, are they actually touchyGood
about whether your machine has an up to date inspection sticker?
->longer version:
I got a deliteful letter from PENNDOT today. Seems they noticed that I've
registered a motorbike in the Commonwealth. They mailed me the paper and
the little sticker three months ago, so it only took them three months to
connect the dots, and here I made no effort to conceal it whatsoever.
for them.ride,
They counseled me that I required a motorcycle endorsement in order to
and they gave me fine detailed directions on the exact method required to1. the beginner course uses their bikes not yours, the experienced
obtain said endorsement. I checked my license again and the "M" was still
there. Hmmm, a puzzler, this letter.
Then the letter seemingly bore fruit, I learned that PA offers free MC
safety training for newbies and for experienced riders. Cool. We now
return to the short version listed above.
Refill your snifter quick, I think my credit card people just called
Shirley...I'll pay cash later, but don't let her know that just yet...
Don
riders course uses your bike.
2. since all motorcycles in pa require a valid inspection sticker.yes
they are going to be picky about it
3. it aint exactly free, when you renew your license you get charged an
extra 8 dollars for your motorcycle endorsement, this pays for the course.
4. go to their website it has all the info on what you will need (riding
gear, permit or license with class M endorsement etc.)
5.if you pass the course and have a permit and are eligible under the
permit rules you get your license (motorcycle endorsement) at the end of
the course.
6. I hope it is good I just signed my son and myself up for the course
in September.
7.the state does seem a little behind. my son bought a sportster last
month (registered in my name,he's only 16) I got two notices, one for
the sportster and one for my FXDWGI from June of 2004
Letter from PennDOT came out mostly to make sure we knew there were some
changes. Can't get a permit now without taking/passing a (20) question
test. Used to be you could get a permit at any licensing center or local
registration business. Like Dave said pamsp site has the information you
need. The course is as good as the instructors you get (most are really
good). No upfront cost for the course itself to PA residents. Hope I did
this right, been lurking for awhile...first post though.
