This might sound strange. And quite possibly get me laughed right out of the bar............. again.
But......... if it is possible, turn the hinge pins and nuts (or screws) over so what was facing up is now on the bottom.
That way the force against them is working to tighten..... not loosen.
It might work......... or it might not. But heck. It can't hurt.
