Good luck on that Steve. Was just told by one of the Vet Reps at the Dayton VA that they are unofficailly only approving 1 in 10 for comp. I have an appeal still in the system that is over 13 years old without ever hearing an answer yet.

I'd be looking for an increase in the disability I've already got........I've been carrying a service connected disability (and getting paid for it) for over 25 years.

Yep, same here. I am rated 70% service connected. Been rated at least 40% since 1993.

Worst case scenario would be that I get them to buy me a nice set of hearing aids, keep them updated for the rest of my life.....and proved frikkin batteries.


Yep again. I've seen where they will rate a person at 0% so they do not have to pay out monthly but that still enables treatment. Good luck.


I've been rated 10% since about 1980.......which was when I tried joining the Arizona Army National Guard (my brother in law was in the unit), and failed the hearing test.

Would have been cool getting into that unit, they were going to send me to helicopter mechanic school......let me keep my E-5 (and I had to argue hard to be given Sgt and not Spec 5). I would have been a crew chief on Hueys (and later Blackhawks)....

Downside would have been I'd have probably gone to Desert Storm AND the current round of activities in the sand box......
