Re: Air in brake line?

Shirley - set up the house please,

Pondering a slight problem with the new scootah that was in for some
recall and warranty work recently. First off, man, the new dealership
up here is the ballz! Came and picked up my bike, did the work and
delivered it back to me at N/C, two days ahead of schedule I might add.
Color me shocked, fer sure. Haven't seen this level of service since,
well forever, I'd have to say.

The one thing I had 'em check while the bike was in was the rear brake.
When you stomp on it at speed, you can hear that it's got air in the
line. It doesn't really feel spongy, but it sure sounds like it needed
a bleeding. They bled the line out, vac'd it they did - but that
didn't take care of the problem. Still sounds like there's still air
in the line.

The wrench that did the work said that he personally bled the line, and
to give it some time, brakes need to seat and such and that'd probably
take care of the problem, but my gut's telling me that the sound I'm
hearing is indicative of air getting into the system somehow. Maybe a
pinhole in the line, or air's getting in there somehow (maybe a leak in
the master cylinder gasket)? No signs of brake fluid anywhere
indicating a problem.

Maybe the wrench is right on the mark?

(shrug??)

I once had a hydrualic system acting a little like that. It turned out
to be spall from the machine shop that had wedged across a fitting.

Just a "maybe."
