Specifically, I said "the Harley-Davidson brand is under represented,
certainly in comparison to proportionate numbers of various brands on
the roads."

The statistics that you cited confirm (rather than refute) my
observation:

Harley-Davidson 6,650 31.6%
Honda 5,917 28.1%
BMW 4,878 23.2%
Yamaha 1,491 7.1%
Kawasaki 1,472 7.0%
Suzuki 655 3.1%

(not including "noise level" entrants)

As far as proportionate numbers of bikes on the road, for 2004 the
motorcycle industry magazine DealerNews reported the following U.S.
streetbike sales:

Harley-Davidson 238,804 40.3%
Honda 123,703 20.9%
Suzuki 83,208 14.0%
Yamaha 75,346 12.7%
Kawasaki 58,097 9.8%
BMW 13,342 2.3%

So as a brand, proportionally compared to their percentage of
streetbikes, Harley is under represented, as are Yamaha, Suzuki, and
Kawasaki, while Honda is slightly over represented, and BMW is HUGELY
over represented in documented IBA Ride finishes.
