As we all know there are significant risks in riding, which I choose
to accept.

Paul was still thinking about it tonight and called to talk for a while.......he's pretty shook up since he knew the guys better than I did.

Steve, ten 'l getcha twenty, they both had the MSF course, and after being out of it for a year or five, thought themselves immune. I just

My understanding is that not only had they taken MSF, but the old guy who lost it had been through several of the "race bike" schools up in the Las Vegas area.......and was VERY technically proficient (if not using much common sense).

went through after having ridden for 20 odd years (my first time BTW)
and down here, there's usually a sportbike rider & a cruiser rider
teaching the course. They went out of their way to invite sportbike
riders (a significant majority in my class) to get some intro to race
course riding rather than screwing up on the street. I'm willing to
bet that at least one of my classmates will be dead in less than two
years.

I'm there with you, there's a LOT of discussion the last couple days on the local lists about taking the hot dogging to the track and keeping it off the street.....NOT riding so close to your capabilities (or perceived capabilities) on the street.......losing two of our locals in the same accident really rippled the shock waves through the local (bike) community.

I've ridden with, but while staying at a No-Tell here, shared
libations with four riders who going down to Baja, of whom only three
returned. Happens all the time. As long as there's horsepower,
testosterone, and twisty roads, I fear it's inevitable.

Our lives here are fragile and precious.......

A round to all in hope that we can persuade Darwin to back off a notch...
