POLITICAL THREAD -- WTF was Bill Bennett thinking?

I've met WIlliam Bennett and didn't like him (pompous, self-involved,
ignoramus in my opinion), but I think he's getting a bad rap on his recent
radio statements about abortion and crime rates. Listening to the context of
what he said, and his entire statement not just the sound bite it created, it
sounded to me like he was positing an absurd and reprehensible situation in
order to point out the foolishness of a caller's point. Should he have
thought about what would be done with his allusion? *** yeah, he's now a
professional radio puffer, he shoulda known better. Do I think he's a racist
shithead? Dunno, but I don't think this is the petard upon which to hoist
him.

Seems a lot like the teacher (in DC?) who was chastised for using the word
_niggardly_ correctly and accurately in front of a room full of ignorami.

And dog knows I'm one of the first around here to pop off about racism and
racists, so if I can see this is a put up job....
