Hehe -- as you know, it sure wasn't the neo-cons. They're busy in DC taking over the government. The red cross was definitely turned back but it was the work of the state officials of Louisiana that did the dirty deed. That would be Gov. Blank-Oh's gang. I'm thinking more and more that she's looking at some serious time in prison over her dereliction of duty. Her political career is done as a minimum. I expect to see a special election and bunch of purple fingers in LA (because so many have lost their identification).
BTW, did you know that FEMA has a full-time staff of just 2,500 persons and an on-call of 4,000 people for the entire USA? Any wonder they're overloaded? And many of them were dealing with the effects of Katrina in Florida when the *** hit the fan in the Gulf. They depend entirely on local resources being available, trained, and competent. Something that didn't happen in LA and NO, but is reliable as rain in Florida.
I see they sent Brown packing this afternoon, handed his job duties over to a Coasty Vice Admiral (wonder what his vice is??).......
Much as I hate to admit something....Rumsfeld hit it on the head this week when asked WTF had gone on.......he said the feds should have gone right in because in his mind the state/local authorities were as much victims of the disaster as anyone else and were unable to respond......
How about some on-topic......
Took the new ride up into the mountains this morning with my local fellow city retiree buddy Dennis for about a 250 mile jaunt.....took the twisties like it was on rails. Waved to Johns and Colbath as I passed through Wickenberg (didn't see them though).....stopped in Yarnell for breakfast....line of classic hotrods out front, got some pics...will have to resize/post across the street.
Sure was nice to get out of the 105 temps into something closer to 80 even if it was only for a couple hours.
Piping the XM radio into my helmet for the "flight" down I-17 back into the furnace I live in (Hell) sure was sweet....as was the $40 insulated cooler in my saddlebag, we stopped at Sunset Point for pictures and a cold drink...Dennis didn't know I had ice water on-board......sure made him happy, hit the spot.
Couple more of those and I'll be right on the money for it's first service before I head for SNIFF....<sfsf>
