Update:

Got my head and cylinder back from shop. They sandblasted everything
and the thing looks new. Shiny piston (Metal Leve, brz company, makes
oem for car factories here, iirc). New cam chain (DID, oem), tensioner
actuator (improved design, oem sucks) new tensioner, and cam chain
guides (oem, $$!!), plus clutch springs (oem), clutch disks (generic
brand) and brake pads (metallic, also generic brand). None of these
parts were imported from China or contains lead. I'm getting close to
500usd in parts... Still thinking over taking head to machine shop
determine shim sizes. I don't think I'll be able to do that with the
tools I have and I can't find the right feeler gauge precision. I must
make that decision before saturday.

more later...

Hey Tiago,

I suggest that you should take the head to the machine shop so that
you are sure that it's set up correctly. You have already spent a
large amount of $$, so you might as well be sure that it's correct.
You did do 1 thing I will not do ever again, unless forced. You
purchased aftermarket fiber clutch plates. They never last more than
a couple rides for me. With all the mud riding you do, I know you go
through brake pads. How do the generic pads you buy perform?

So, if I were to plan a trip down to visit, when is the best time and
how much $$$ will it cost to rent a good bike. I have some airline
milage I need to use in the next few years.
