Yes, I've had it happen a couple of times. My ISP's webmail is
better than your's it sounds like so I just go there and delete stuff
until it works.

Slightly amazed that I've never seen this before. I was on the phone with my ISP's tech support a couple times, and they had no idea what was going on with some parts of the webpage either. At least they both answered the call within about 30 seconds ! and both spoke English !! as their primary language. No clue about what the problem was though.

Is it gmail? Gmail's POP server allows you to download mail only once -- which means if you read it on one machine it will be invisible if you try to download it with a different (or the same) machine -- a real nuisance if you want to visit people and use their machines to read your mail. There's a cumbersome workaround, but I won't bother to explain if nobody cares.
