That's pretty much why I don't bother most of the time anymore. I can
take a couple of hours to write, edit, re-arrange and clarify a ride
report to try and make it entertaining and/or informative, post it,
and get no replies at all, or with a good one, maybe I'll get a reply
from Tami or Joe, both of whom I keep in touch with via e-mail and
other means, so why jug up RMD? There just doesn't seem to be any
point.

Then the *** uses facts and data to make me look bad for doing it.

"Delayed RR" - Apr 5th, 2007 - Tim H.

11 unique follow-up posters to this thread, which included quotes
like: "The coolest, greatest, bestest, awesome enduro report I have
ever read."... and... " a fantastic ride report. It's a damn good
thing that I am typing this, because I'm still to choked up to speak,
5 minutes after reading it."... and... "I need a dad like you, about
forty years ago when I was 9."

That was by far the coolest and most gratifying response to a report
that I've ever had. Thanks again to everyone that read and responded.

"Scott's Birthday RR" - Sep 10th, 2006 - Tim H.

8 unique follow-up posters to this thread, which included quotes like:
"You have a fine family there, man." ... and... "Very, very kewl.
Thanks for sharing, Tim." ... and even... "Tim, now that Scott is 14,
I think it's time to break the news to him that you and Theresa are
just his foster parents. I'm pretty sure Karen and I are stable enough
now that he can come home... btw, I'm doing a roof tear-off and
re-shingle next week, can he be here by then?"

OK, that was nice too, but I'm not sure that DJ trolling for laborers
for his re-roof should count...

"RR: A Fine NW Gathering" - May 23rd, 2006 - Tim H.

6 unique follow-up posters to this thread. Comments included: "I'm
just going to give up. I can't do anything near the fun-level as
this. It's over." ... and... "Still, I'd do it again in a heartbeat.
For me, it's worth the hours of driving, eating dust, pain, and
humility of slowing everyone down so I can enjoy the comraderie of
good friends and have the opportunity to go trail riding -- an
activity that, for me, is life itself."

That was Tami and Eric's trip up here last year, right?
It's like writing about Charles and Diana, almost a guaranteed
audience.

"RR: Scott's First Enduro" - Apr 4th, 2006 - Tim H.

9 unique follow-up posters. Comments include: "Great stuff. And proof
that not all of your posts go ignored..." ... and... "Great story! As
an ex-enduro rider, one of my dreams was to have my boy ride with
me. He wasn't interested in bikes. Oh well!" ... and... "That was
Fantastic! Thanks for sharing, Tim."

OK, OK, that was another good one...

And I can recall these RRs as well as your ISF '06 accounts, the
water-logged race last year where water was running off the parking
lot, and wasn't that you who wrote about the weirdos you encountered
in a parking lot up in the woods one time?

"Weirdos in the woods" doesn't ring a bell exactly, but it might have
been me. Lord knows I've met a lot of strange characters in the woods
over the years.

I haven't read your latest report because I was on vacation, but
I'll go do it next...

Apparently, as a group we are more
interested in flaming each other or discussing, well, anything BUT
dirt bikes and riding them, than in sharing the ride with each other.
Or maybe I just really, really suck at descriptive writing. Whatever.

I think you do a very fine job of writing, Tim.

Thank you, Fred, I appreciate that.

I wish I could ride more so that I could share more RRs myself. But
don't take my lack of RRs as a disinterest in what this group was
founded for. I just haven't had any rides to report on.

All right, all right, I'll try a few more without being overly
sensitive about it. Of course, I'm leaving on 3 weeks of vacation in a
couple of days, so it'll have to wait until I get back.
It sounds like we might all be a bit more supportive of future RR's.>From other's comments it seems that many of us say nothing when we

have no more to say than "Kewl report, thanks" (I've refrained from
posting that dozens of times), but the few seconds to post that might
help get this place turned a little more towards riding again. I'm
game to try.

Kewl report, thanks.
