Re: GG125 - where is the crank oil seal?

On engine fiche #8, the 125cc 'Crankcase' page, you can clearly see
the flange that obstructs the bearing/seal (or whatever is against
there) on case part #4. Also, from that page, it looks like the dry
side can be changed from the outside (case part #1), but it appears
that the wet side requires splitting the cases due to the flange.

OK - I just looked up the bigger displacement engines. The similar
flange that is causing all of my confusion is obstructed in the bigger
motor pictures, but from what I can see, appears to go about 3/4s of
the way around the bearing hole, vs. 1/2 way around in the 125.
According the 'talking smack' posts, the seal can be replaced in the
bigger-bore bikes, so I have to assume that it can be done with the
little one too. There just isn't anything in there that looks like an
oil seal that will pull past that flange. How do I get the thing out?

Jay,
The inner bushing is a spacer to go behind the primary gear, and
make it ride in the proper place on the crank.

I can't see the "Flange" that you are speaking of.
There is no flange around the crank seal in the larger engine, and I
don't think i remember one being in the 125.
Does this have a part number in the fiche? Can you expand a jpg and
mark the area you speaking of with an arrow? (using "paint" program?)
Then send me an email with the jpg in it?

File the clutch basket the straightest that you can with a hand file
(square, not tapered) and don't sweat it until you get the seal
replaced and the jetting sorted out.
Spend the larger bucks after you give the properly jetted bike a fair
shot.
