That is just your opinion. The only way of proving that is to actually go
there and race there for a season. See if he can be consistent for a whole
season.
Until he's done that, he'll never be a world champion.
And until Everts and others come to the U.S. and race for a full
season they'll never have a chance to be AMA Champions. The proverbial
street runs both ways.
Absolutely! The diff is that the US title is just that; a national
championship.
Semantics. We get riders from other parts of the world too (Jean
Michael-Bayle, Chad Reed, that South African kid). If Europe wants to
call their championship a "world" title, that's fine with me. But the
U.S. could do the same if it so chose. It's mostly just the vast ocean
that sperates us. If it was more convenient, and the seasons didn't
overlap too badly, then I'm sure we'd see more GP guys in AMA MX and
more MX guys in GPs. It's impractical for both parties to travel back
and forth across the pond during a season though.
And it's not like Americans *haven't* won the World MX
Championship. 1982, 1989, 1990, 1991, 1992, 1994... Danny LaPorte,
Brad Lackey, Donny Schmit, Trampas Parker and Bob Moore. None of which
were anywhere NEAR as dominate as Ricky Carmichael has been outdoors.
Americans? Whats the point? What does THAT have to do with it???? Their
names are not Karmichel, is it?
Eh? No response?
I didn't respond because I hadn't realized that your hard-on was
exclusively for Carmichael. My bad. No response necessary.
Hallo? This thread was about carmickel and YOU were the one who brought in
all those other guys in to the conversation.
I admitted it was my mistake. What do you want me to do,
apologize?
The only guy in Europe on Carmichael's level is Stefan Everts.
Again, it is up to your guy to prove that. It'd be interesting to see how
he'd do with a season in Europe.
It's not up to me to prove anything.
Never said it was up to you. Read what I said again.
Well, *I'm* the one who said, in the above statement, that the
only guy in Europe on Carmichael's level is Everts. Ricky certainly
doesn't have to prove anything to me. To you, maybe. But I already
recognize the legend.
If *Ricky* publicly stated he was better than all the European
guys, then yes, I concur that it'd be up to him to prove it. But he
doesn't need to prove anything *I* said. Besides, he probably feels as
if he's already proven it. (again, just my *opinion*).
Hey, maybe
that's exactly what he should do! He's talked about running a partial
schedule next season in America anyway, so maybe he could just go the
Europe and finish his career with a "World" title. Wouldn't that piss
off some folks.
What if he lost? Ended up last? Got injured? Then what? Bet THAT would piss
some people off too.
Probably. But mostly I think it'd just disappoint people. I know
if I had tickets to the Washougal National and Everts was racing a
full AMA season, and got injured before the race, I wouldn't be
angry... I'd be disappointed. I wanna see the best guys duking it out.
But injuries are an unfortunate part of the sport sometimes.
