Re: ride-breakdown report.

Mid-90s Husabergs had a tendancy to cook the stator. There's a cool
mod that a lot of folks have done posted in the technical section of
www.husaberg.org. No idea if you could adapt it to your bike, but it
might be worth a look.

I'll see what I can find out, I'm not sure what mod goes with cooling
it besides the standard KTM leaky clutch-boss that can be flooded with
junk.
I think that may be why mine eventually went bad. I've cleaned it out
a bunch and gooped on sealeant that didn't.

The Husaberg mod is basically a vent hose. I'm going to take a quick
look and see if I can find a link to one of the articles...

Here's one:

"(2 SEM ignitions previously died before this mod was implemented in
the summer heat of Redding CA)"

the summer heat of Redding CA I can relate to, sorta - strictly from
an air-conditioned perspective anyhow. Anybody riding a FS600 'Berg
in the summer heat of Redding has my admiration.

"The goal is to vent the head through a mini Uni Pleated Filter
situated in the left side airbox (see photo), draft the ignition as
much as possible into the airbox through the fitting that used to be
used for the head vent, and provide a level of confidence that water &
dirt will not enter the ignition cooling system/air box."

head = heat? speelchucker

Vent the head? Interesting.... Run a vented line from the airbox
through the stator and back? The intake having a mini-filter, and
the return-line having a one-way check-valve so no crud enters,
cooling-air suction provided by the spinning thing itself...

That rubber dootchie in front of the stator/flywheel (by the red
zip-tie) is one point of sludge ingress, the other being the
clutch-cable boss. But having a half-gunked ignition didn't seem to
do much, a drain-hole might be a good idea...

It's awful tight in there...with the tank on there's not even room to
add-in Jim's in-line juice clutch - it just doesn't fit. I know some
people would say they can MAKE anything fit, but that's usually ME
saying it.

If you go out-board it's in danger of maybe snagging on stuff, but the
pipe is there too...If you put the intake up on the radiator that's
going to be close to one of the hot parts also...?

Very interesting sideways out-of-the-box concept thing.
