You've missed my point at least partially. I WANT to buy local. I'm
not concerned with everyone else. I WANT to be able to hold a couple
of levers in front of me and decide which I want. I'm not going to
buy boots or helmets without being able to try them on.
Gear? Sure. No problem. And it's unlikely I'll need a jersey at 4pm
on Saturday afternoon.

Have I bragged (lately) about my local Suzuki/Cowasocki dealership? I
have gone in there with a part off of a 10 year old Suzuki and they
knew what it was without me telling them and without looking it up and
had it in stock. It was a combination of knowing me and what I ride
and knowing bikes very well. Everyone, including both women behind
the counter rides and can fix most things on a bike themselves. Since
owning the GasGas, I've gone in there for some minor things I've
needed like odd size nuts and bolts and they have come back from
whereever they go back there with what I need. They have offered to
order things for me, no matter what it is, with a three day max wait.
Sue has gone by there for me for oil and such and when they found out
I belong to her <g>, she got 20 percent off.

The local Yamaha shop had parts in stock for my 83 TT600. When I
lived a block away from them, I have called them stating I was on my
way home but couldn't get there before closing. They have left the
parts hidden outside in a 'spot' for me and told me to come by the
next day and pay. They also had a mechanic zip the valves loose on my
forks from my RMX for free.

Just thought I should share and make you really appreciate YOUR local
shops.
