My mistake - it was your best friend in high school and your
cousin that both shot somebody but you consider
them safe and smart. Hopefully that is true, now that
they're a bit older and wiser. Anybody that shoots
someone by accident is a moron.
See, this is the problem with fucknut liberals... they just make
*** up to fit their case. But for the record, you're WRONG again. I
didn't say I consider them safe and smart. What I said was that
neither of them "was stupid or regarded as unsafe hunters." I didn't
say I considered them "smart." "Smart" is a very encompassing term,
and distinctly different than "not stupid." Lots of people are not
stupid, yet not exactly geniuses either.
In the hunting cases mentioned, my friend and my cousin both had
years and years of experience. Obviously my cousin, being much older,
had more experience than my high school buddy, but that high school
friend probably had a greater knowledge of hunting simply because he
grew up in the country, in a hunting family. So *in the field of
hunting and gun safety*, I'd say yes, both gentlemen were knowledgable
and regarded as safe hunters. Which is all we're talking about here.
It's irrelevant to me whether or not either of them have won a Nobel
prize in psychics. I wouldn't hesitate to hunt with either of them
tomorrow, and I don't believe I'm a moron.
It's people like you who know nothing about a given activity, but
who's hatred for the "opposition" so infects your opinions, who really
scare me. People like you who jump to extremes in lieu of common sense
frighten the hell out of me. What does that mean? It means there's a
big difference between the "irresponsible" and the "accidental." And
it's usually common sense that makes the distinction. If VP Cheney's
shotgun went off as he was exiting the vehicle because it was loaded,
he didn't have the safety on, he was excited and he blew a hole
through the center of Whittington at point blank range, then I'd be
right there with you condemning his actions. But that's not what
happened. But liberals -- or at least anti-Republicans -- are going to
try and make it sound equally as incredible. In reality, there's no
comparison. It's akin to suggesting that the guy who loses control of
his truck on black ice and accidentally hits someone, while otherwise
following all applicable rules and precautions, is just as guilty as
the drunk driver leaving the bar at 2am and plowing over a couple of
pedestrians only to wake up in jail the next morning not remembering a
thing.
Look, I don't care if you believe Cheney's an idiot. In many ways,
he may well be. I just take exception to the moronic statements that
he should face criminal charges, be impeached, and all the other
patently BS crap that his many of his detractors (though not you) are
suggesting. Don't go from one extreme to the other. Use your common
sense before trying to blow things out of perspective with smug
sarcasm, a gross lack of knowledge on the subject, and hatred. To me,
Dave uses his common sense in this thread. I too could sit back and
rifle snide one-liners all day or selectively quote out of context,
but instead I (usually) try to present an informed opinion for
constructive purposes. Like you though, I'm not perfect.
