I wouldn't say it's *better* as it doesn't appear to be very consistent (or so the wife complains), but my bling-bling digital toaster with a timer circuit thingy doesn't have an arrow. Prior to caffeine intake, if toasting only one piece at a time (so each slice is warm) this can be confusing.
