Good Points about Illinois: Vast numbers of German immigrants resulted
in the state being the historic backbone of the American brewery industry.

In 1973, I took a tri0p to the Fatherland to see where my grandparents
came from. While in a pub there in Heidelburg, I saw that they had
pretzels and hunks of a ~real~ coarse rye bread (could have sanded
mold lines with it!). After being served and getting ready to depart
and continue our trip, I found out we couldn't leave until the
contents of the pretzel bowl had been counted and we paid for whatever
we ate.
