Re: Latest IPMS journal

John:
What you had there was one guy's sour grapes, unfortunately that one guy was
also a one man show when it came to putting out the magazine. From posts on
the IPMS forum those in charge had NO idea he was putting that in the
magazine. I applaud his 17 years of effort on the Journal but using the
Society's magazine to air his personal bitches against those in charge was
over the top and regardless of how shabbily he was or feels he was treated
that was not the place to air it..
This is a hobby, it is about fun but there are JMNs(Joyless Modeling Nazis)
everywhere who try to suck all the fun out by endlessly arguing about minor
kit errors and the like.If it is minor fix it, it is modeling after all. If
it is major like the first Trumpeter F4Fs then you got a legitimate beef,
sound off. Fortunately their numbers are few but they do tend to be the
loudest.
Still, overall my experience with IPMS/USA has been very positive as it has
here,on Hyperscale,MM,ARC and MUG. All have been very helpful and provided a
lot of useful info. The Journal was a bit behind the times but hopefully the
new staff will present us with an exciting and fresh magazine. We will have
to wait and see.It is a shame that after 17 years of hard work and
dedication the past editor will be remembered mostly for his childish tirade
in his last issue. What he had to say may have needed saying, but NOT where
he chose to say it.

I just got the new IPMS Journal.
I quit the club in the early 80's because of the political bull$%#@
I just joined again in july hopeing the people have gone beyond the little
petty whining. My-god look at this issue the guy that was the editor has
three pages showing his problem with IPMS and it's leaders.
Please tell me if I am wrong but I can see the decline of our hobby
from a bunch of people that cannot understand the difference between.
A hobby that is supposed to be fun as to the difference between a bunch of
political and personal whining Babies. Please let's go back to the time
when all we did was build models and have fun with. I started a
club that meets at my shop every wednesday at 7pm. we only have one rule
you have to bring a model and work on it. No club dues and you have to
have fun. Keep it fun and build what you want, do not worry about the
rivet counters.
cheers
