I thought we were talking of light weight electric aircraft and hot glue is not very light or strong. The melting issue is yet another potential disaster being recommended.
I wonder if anyone has ever tried using silicon caulking, either the 100% bathtub type caulk, or the siliconized latex caulk, for gluing foam wings?
If the 100% stuff did not attack the foam, I would think the flexibility characteristics would make a good application, to keep from being brittle and cracking under severe stress. It does have very good glue characteristics in other applications.
If the 100% did attack the foam, the latex modified with silicone would not attack foam, I would think, and I'm pretty sure about it not attacking foam.
So, what does everyone think? Anyone tried it?
I use it a fair bit for filling balsa models..over here its called 'decorators caulk'
In fact there is a nice EPS fairing made with a sculpted bit of blue foam and covered in tissue, PVA, decorators caulk and latex house paint covering an overflow pipe in the bathroom....
